Monroe County Animal Shelter

I had a wonderful experience with staff. I emailed and talked on the phone with them several times. They always promptly responded to my emails and still do, I met and adopted a dog there. I would recommend them. The facility was clean. We had our meet and greet in the inside fenced area. Everything was clean. The ladies were friendly and very helpful!

My son had let our Shepard out on a Friday morning. Prior to that heat cycle, my dogs have never wandered, and I've never had an animal taken to a shelter before this. We physically searched all weekend as well as called and left numerous messages at all shelters in area. She was not posted until Sunday evening. Amber did everything in her power to keep us from getting our girl back, including manipulating the 4 day stray law (which was not mentioned until hours before hold was up), answering calls from across the country while ignoring mine, insisting she was not vaccinated and requiring me to prepay her rabies that she was current on, and going as far as mocking and taunting me as she counted down the minutes until I did not own my dog. Adopted Sophie. She was brought in because her owner died. She is a very good dog and we are so lucky to have found her.

We adopted our dog about a month ago. The shelter is run by wonderful people who clearly care for the animals there. We received regular communication throughout the adoption process, and they made sure we had everything necessary to get our girl all set up in her new home. They seem to know each of the dogs and their individual needs well. We highly recommend!
