Midcoast Animal Emergency Clinic

I would like to start by saying I appreciate the difficult work that this office does and I appreciate the care that they give. That said I want to give a fair and accurate review of the visit with my dog at the end of June. I have had my Yorkshire Terrier since he was a puppy over 16 years ago. Suddenly my dog lost control of his back end and could not stand and was crying. We presented there at 10:30 p.m. on a weeknight to find the office packed. There was nowhere to sit, we were standing in the center of the small waiting area while my dog cried in my arms and pressed his head into my neck. I understood they were busy and tried to wait patiently. After about 30 minutes a young woman came out to triage my dog in the middle of the waiting room, while I held him. Having to bring my boy in on Christmas day was not ideal, but I am so glad that I did and so glad that every single person that worked with him was wonderful! Dr. Marini is a top notch vet and thank you to Dani (spelling?) and Maddy for your calming and cheerful presence around my boy. You all made this stressful experience so much better for us.

Dog lover here, currently own 5 labs and have never had less than 3 dogs at once, so needless to say im used to emergency vets. My most expensive bill being just under 11 thousand dollars, 8 years ago. Relatively new to this area and have never been here before. One of my labs has an abscess and needs it drained along with antibiotics. So, I come to Midcoast Animal Clinic to have that done, knowing damn well that I'll probably have to wait at least 4 or 5 hours to be seen. The first lady told me hopefully around 8pm I should be able to be seen. 8pm rolls around, nothing. At that point I noticed 3 vehicles that had arrived long after me, already have come and gone. Another hour goes by, same thing. 2 or 3 new vehicles come and go. And im sitting in the truck, waiting. About 11pm I go in and

Our cat who was being treated for IBD from her normal vet took a sudden turn for the worse, stopped eating and lost a lot of weight over a few days. She was going downhill by the minute and I brought her here. The level of incompetence at Midcoast was unbelievable. It took way over an hour to be seen as they did not prioritize by emergency level, seeing several pets with much less crisis-level issues before her even though we called ahead. Based on other comments this is a common issue here. The worst part was that when the doctor finally did come in the FIRST THING he said to me after being so worried waiting for her was "where'd you leave the rest of her?" It was such a disgusting thing to say since she was so skinny. And then after all this waiting they said they were not well equipped

My dumbass cat ate a sewing needle and thread and they got her all fixed up super fast. Had problems previously when anesthesia had to be used (different vet), but this vet handled her very well and she came out of the knock out juice very easily. In general they were very kind and reassuring even when I was panicking, and seemed to treat her very well as well. She was back to her cuddly self almost immediatley
