Mason County Animal Shelter

The Mason County animal shelter has greatly improved since the year since I’ve been there I went the other day and they have a wonderful updated area for visiting with animals to see if you like the animal or are compatible. They have a big room for the cats that’s very bougie. They have better areas for the dogs now as well areas for dogs that are sick or animals that are sick and need to be quarantined and they always need volunteers of course because they are understaffed because we have such problem with animals that are not claimed or abandoned so if you can help, please do Adopt don’t shop!!!

Absolute hands down one of the best shelters! Very kind people who truly love animals and have compassion for people in finding the perfect fur baby for their family. We drove over an hour n half away to adopt a precious kitten after losing our other baby. Our hearts are grieving and they gave us time to pick our perfect addition for us! I would highly recommend them! Thank you guys for everything

They said the dog would not harm cats, they lied. It killed by wonderful cat of 18 years. When I called to tell them what happened all I was told "well sometimes Huskies do this" yes more so when the Husky was cross breed with a wolf! Take a look at the picture below that is the last image I have of my beautiful Serendipity before putting him in the cold ground. I hope this image haunts you forever Mason County Shelter!

Me and my family have tired for 3 weeks to go here while they say they are supposed to be open and they haven't been to look at cats. I have called multiple times and was told they would be open and every time they are not. I do t know what's going on down there weather they need to hire more people or what but don't tell people you are going to be opened then have the door locked.

Very bad experience. Went in to surrender a stray cat who was pregnant. While waiting to speak with the person at the desk I overheard her advised someone over the phone to "shoot the dog" if it comes on the persons property. There was no concern or remorse or encouragement that they would look into the situation. When she finally got to me I told her I had seen the sign that they were not taking animals so I wanted to see if there was a waiting list. She asked what was going on with the cat and why I was surrendering her. I told her she was a stray who was pregnant and I unfortunately couldn't keep her. As soon I said pregnant she put a piece of paper in front of me and started talking to someone else in the office. She told them to get a quarantine room ready and that they would be spayi
