Los Alamos County Animal Shelter

Everything advertised about this shelter is incorrect. When I called to find out about their partner spay program, the Person answering the phone and the other person yelling at. Them knew nothing about anything. The 2 people yelling across the room at each other. Could not answer any of my questions or give me any guidance about spaying or adoption. It's advertised as a no-kill shelter and the person I spoke with said this is untrue. They only take animals from Los Alamos nd not any other areas. They are a kill shelter. They do not partner with any local or non-local vets for spaying/neutering programs. Very disappointing.

I just called about a situation with a cat. All they started talking to me about was investment, and how much they could or couldn’t profit off of a cat. It’s a county animals shelter profit is not supposed to be part of it. They said that should seek somewhere els to help the cat if I wanted it done for free. It was disgusting!

It's a nice clean place to go. The only objection I have is they don't have very many dogs to adopt at a certain time.

I just stopped in there to bring a puppy in and they wouldn’t take him because I found him outside of Los Alamos. I went here a month ago to look for a smaller dog and they don’t have many to adopt. This is probably one of the better areas for animals to be adopted?? I’d take him but just adopted a smaller dog a month ago from Santa Fe animal shelter. No this isn’t the dog I adopted.
