Came up from Canada because the neuro department could get us much sooner than Calgary. A 7.5 hour drive and my Great Dane had her MRI very quickly. She needed spinal surgery and was hospitalized for two days. The night before her surgery we had to make a visit to The emergency clinic. The wait was long like 3-5 hours. The vet we saw was excellent. She was knowledgeable and wanted to make sure nothing went wrong for my dogs upcoming spinal surgery. The neuro resident we dealt was extremely knowledgeable and explained everything in great detail. He’ll make an excellent addition to any hospital that has him. My dogs spinal surgery cost 12 k. Only negative is the vet hospital would not direct bill insurance. I was super thankful the neuro resident could lift my Great Dane into my car so we

Yesterday our little Bertie was attacked by a Rottweiler and had to be transferred from an emergency vet in Crosslake to be brought here for Intensive Care. Due to the vicious nature of fighting breeds we had to lay our loving, young, energetic dog to rest. The outstanding vets here did everything they could to make her last hours comfortable and lessen her pain. We were able to have our whole family in a private room, unrushed, and they allowed our other dog to come in and say goodbye too. She was warm, peaceful, and did not flinch or yip when being gently put to sleep. Dr Risi and every other person from the front desk guy to the clean up crew were thoughtful and kind. It takes a special soul to work here and we are grateful to have them in our city.

Was referred here to my vet after a heart murmur detection. Dr. Herbert and the cardiology staff were incredibly kind, patient, and transparent with Panther’s care. Before and after his procedure they always were available to promptly respond to my questions and concerns. Post-op we had to bring him to their urgent care and Dr. Herbert personally came to assist during this visit as well. It was a stressful and scary time but I felt support by the staff and knew they all wanted the best for him. He’s now thriving with more energy than before. Thank you to all the staff at Lewis Small Animal Hospital! ❤️

DO NOT GO HERE. THIS PLACE IS INCREDIBLY UNPROFESSIONAL and INSENSITIVE. THE PRICES HERE ARE OUTRAGEOUS. This place provided the worst services I have ever seen in my entire life. I took my cat here recently due to him throwing up constantly and not being able to eat, drink, or move for days. This was obviously very worrying and a very scary and stressful situation. Upon arrival they triaged him then had us wait with him in the waiting room for about a half hour before they returned and took him from us to be examined but we didn’t even get to go with him to be there and talk with the vet about what was going on which I thought was absurd especially in such a scary and vulnerable time like this. After about an hour without seeing my cat or hearing any updates, They said he would need X-ray

The University is the place to go if your pet has something going on that your local vet can't figure out or deal with. They have great internal medicine as well as multiple specialties. Good or bad, we've had 2 cats that have gone/go there and, while we really like our local vet, Lewis is the best for complicated issues.
