Lewis County Animal Shelter

Very nice staff! They let me play and get to know my potential new family member. They made sure he wasbup to date on his vaccinations and made sure to let me know when he needed new one done. Went over how to register his microchip and provided me with up to date medical records. Would recommend adopting from a shelter to give animals a new loving home vs buying a breed animal. We have enough animals needed homes, why make more. My new dog is the sweetest boy ever! Clearly he was well taken care of by the staff to have such a great disposition.

I was hunting for a cat for my wife. i already have a cat for 3 1/2 years, she settled on this cat at the facility named max big cat 3 years old 15 pounds on the poster said great with other cats dogs kids well let me tell you that cat hates all of the above and will attack them without warning ⚠️ My cat has suffered multiple injuries I've had the cat for 3 months now trying to get them to love eachother... nope not happening.... side note the cat is perfect for a hiker who wants a friend he will crawl on your shoulder and stay there even while walking kinda cool. Anyways I'm thinking of bringing him back he's an amazing cat if he's alone but kids he bites cats he tries to kill.

My husband and I just adopted our first dog here. He is such a great dog and is a perfect fit for our home. The employees there helped answer any questions we had and as much information about the dogs as they could. They also had a huge area of toys, food, leashes, harnesses, bowls for food, treats, beds, all for free that they offered us. No limit as to how many we could take told us to take anything and whatever we needed and as much as we'd like. It was a great experience! He's now at his forever home and couldn't be more happy.

Both my husband and I are so happy with our adopted young female lab mix. The shelter said she was "active" and they were RIGHT! But we love her completely. She's loyal beyond belief, she watches and learns at every step. She's our 4th rescue dog and has added yet another level of love in our hearts

Avoid this place! And I mean this with the most sincerity from my heart. At this moment, all of the cats they have currently, are exposed to feline panleukopenia. They took in a litter with every single cat being exposed and having contracted this virus. Which is highly contagious and with a survival rate for kittens of less than 40%, which I’m cushioning the odd cause I’m hoping he pulls out of this. (older vaccinated cats tend to fare better or don’t even contract the virus. Key word vaccinated). Most of those kittens will die after being takin home or will be killed by the shelter, which I doubt they’re gonna call anyone who got kittens from that litter due to back lash they’d probably experience (you’re looking at about $5000-$7000 in bills to save that kittens life, which isn’t a gua
