Lavaca River Ranch

Lavaca River Ranch is a dog and dog-owners dream. I cannot recommend this place enough. My golden retriever puppy took a two-week intro to obedience course while we were out of town. When we picked her up, we were amazed to see how much she had learned over the short time. Michael has worked with dogs for over twenty years. It's incredible to witness how much he understands them (and loves them). He was also kind enough to text me status updates on my pup each day as I missed her very much. The videos of her galloping around the open fields and into the pond with the other dogs made it clear she was doing just fine at summer camp without me. Michael has been training and boarding my dogs for the better part of 15 years. There is not a better dog trainer in Texas and a true testament is that when I take my dogs back year after year for a tune up or boarding they couldn't be happier to see him. I have complete trust in Michael and know he treats my dogs as if they are his own. The facilities at Lavaca River Ranch are top notch and will be sending my dogs back to camp soon, as my daughters call it.

We recently sent our 2 GSP’s for obedience and beginner retriever training to Michael at Lavaca River Ranch Kennels. Not only is it a top notch facility, Michael(trainer) is top notch and truly cares for and gets to know each dog personally. Their abilities show individually and he did an incredible job finding their full potential! Their obedience is spot on and if you know GSP’s, having 2 in the home can pose a challenge. Michael made sure we were set for a successful life together and I can’t thank him enough. I get so many compliments on how well behaved they are, yet they have kept their full of life personalities! My 6mo vizsla Louis did a board and stay at LRR and seemed to LOVE it! He ran around like a crazy dog in the fenced turn out area and swam in the pond. Was exhausted upon his return. 10/10 would recommend

Just wanted to express my wife’s and my amazement at what Michael and the team at Lavaca River Ranch was able to do with our dog Jake. He was a full blown wild and energetic 3 year old male GSP, without any formal training. We were fortunate enough for Michael to take him on and initially were looking for general disobedience training for him. What Michael and the team were able to instill in him and teach has been amazing. Not only is he now a well behaved part of the family that even our 4 year old son can walk, but Michael was able to work with his prey drive to get him started on retrieving. My family and I are looking forward to many memories and hunting seasons to come with Jake, not to mention the family activities he now gets to be a part of due to the obedience training. Michae
