Very blessed to have the team behind to support, house, watch after her, feed, take after Miss. Passionate on short notice and under the conditions. I am very great and happy that after 30 days they still allow her to return to me. Specially after all not from this area. They also provided food and fish oil, the spayed her double shots for her this year LOL and she is now microchipped. Grateful very blessed to have the support.🥰

I would like to Thank La Plata County Humane Society for their wonderful service for Durango and surrounding areas. Absolutely ALWAYS there to help. I've dealt with this organization for 40 years now. And I have interacted with some amazing, dedicated people. Recently I spoke with a woman named Mercedes who was so very understanding and kind to me. I had to surrender a young, stray, beautiful black cat I called "Monroe." I desperately wanted to keep him but have 2 cats of my own and that's the limit where I live. Mercedes made me feel so much better about my situation and with the circumstances that it was the right thing to do. I truly appreciate her kindness. Great Director, staff and volunteers at LCHS. We are very Blessed!!!

Since 2005, we have adopted 4 dogs from LPCHS. I used to volunteer there as well. It's an amazing place with amazing people who care for the beautiful animals who are looking for a home. If you're looking to adopt and save a life, please consider adopting. Your new pet will save and change your life as well!

We found the Humane Society while search for a pet. We are from Rio Grande County and they were very accommodating of our schedule. We arrived and Lacee was very helpful in showing us the dogs we were interested in. After seeing 4 dogs, we chose Cruiser a 9 year old Belgian Tervuren. All of the staff were extremely helpful and made the process very easy. But Lacee went above and beyond! Cruiser came home, went for a long walk, ate dinner and has taken an hour nap. His tail has not stopped wagging since he got here. Please consider viewing what the society has to offer for adoption. We try and rescue seniors. They are usually the last to be adopted. They have so much to offer and all they really want is safe place, love and affection.

I adopted an adorable 3 month Kelpie mix right after Christmas. Some of her behavior was aggressive - especially toward men. I talked to the animal behaviorist there and he helped me to understand why she was behaving this way and what to do stop it. Very understanding and informative! Thank you!!!
