James River Humane Society

We’ve gotten three dogs from here over the years. They are amazing in that they travel to high kill shelters here in ND as well as other states and rescue dogs scheduled to be euthanized. The staff have always been positive and helpful.

Amazing people they were closed but still opened up there doors to give me some water for my ambulance that I just bought and the antifreeze was supper low. It was negative 6 degrees outside and the only place in site. Thank you and you got my card if you guys need anything.

JRHS staff and volunteers really care about the dogs and cats in their care. They also are very cautious and protective of their animals in regards to finding forever homes. They are less interested in just finding a home for an animal their years of experience with adoptions lead them to finding homes that don't just suit the people wanting a pet, but the animal as well.

We adopted 2 and they are so good. Had a very good experience. Place was clean and staff was very friendly. Would go there again.

I put in my application, and had it denied because I had rescued pets in the past. One small terrier cross was set to be a bait dog or shot. I rescued her, got her vet care and then found her a great home. The 2nd was a save from the reservation where he was going to be dumped out to starve & die my ex & I saved him, got him vet care, and gave him to an older retired woman. Kris was incresibly rude, didn't give me the chance to explain they weren't personal pets I just ditched off. That I simply saved their lives, and cant keep every dog I save just as the humane society can't. Everytime I tried to tell her she accused me of lying, cut me off, and told me that I was an unfit home for her dogs. She also brought up a past adoptuon with the incorrect amount of time I had the dog which
