Everything during the adoption search was great, the staff was friendly and quite helpful. I love Rufus, my new dog. HOWEVER, this is a non-profit that's caught up in the advancement of online services and apparently totally reliant on one - shelterluv. As a web and marketing designer I've seen this all too often. The signing for and final agreement of adoption apparently can take place exclusively through the "shelterluv" application. There seems to be no alternative such as an old-school application of signature to paper documents. I was provided the link to "shelterluv" while I was there and applied my signature BUT apparently no one checked to see if it was ACTUALLY received while I was there. They should have. Then days later I was called and they claimed I didn't use the app and

I volunteered to take a dog for a "Dog's Day Out". This was a first time for me. I had (privately) rescued a dog 6 months earlier who had severely bitten a child. We took him in an fell in love with him. He was so smart and gentle and loving. After 4 months, he flipped without warning, and severely bit me in the face, requiring ambulance to the ER for plastic surgery. 10 seconds after the attack, he was his sweet gentle self again. We had to put him down and it was heartbreaking, because he was as much a victim as me, and he deserved better, but we had no choice. Fast forward 2 months, and I am not ready to own another dog, but I desperately want to help other dogs, partly out of misplaced guilt, and partly out of unconditional love for dogs. Thank you guys so much. I'm falling in love with stimpy and he's getting nice and comfortable. He loves the toys I got for him. Especially his tunnels. He's enjoying his salmon dinner and eating well considering his kitten size. I appreciate the effort the rescues in the area put into screening applicants, but being able to go in and leave with the pet I wanted fairly easily was great, especially considering how excited I was to have my own cat to love. I think stimpy will have a good life with me and offer me the companionship I was looking for. And even if things didn't work out the shelter has assured me that they would take back stimpy and help match me with a more compatible companion if it were necessary. I don't think it would come to that but it's nice to have that to fall back on.

They helped my boyfriend and I find our sweet baby Alice 💗 (formerly known as Chunk). We love her so much, she’s a very sweet little kitty🥰. They all seemed like they cared a lot about the animals there too.🙂

A few weeks ago, my family was in a pinch with moving and our cats needed a place to go for a few weeks. We tried everything and asked everyone we knew, but we didnt know what to do. I contacted the humane society of west Michigan and was put into contact with Ashley. Ashley runs a program for crisis housing for pets. Ashley was beyond amazing helping us through this process. Our babies were well taken care of for a few weeks by a foster until we could be reunited. This is such an incredible program!!!! It gives time for families to deal with unexpected housing issues or other crisis', while keeping pets with their family in the end. I cannot express how much it means to us that we were able to keep our babies and did not have to surrender them to a shelter. The updates from Ashl
