Humane Society of Scott County

I got my absolute best friend, Daisy, from here about a month ago and I was very impressed. I asked how much the adoption fee was, and they told me there wasn't one! On top of that, Daisy hadn't been spayed yet and they informed me that they were going to take care of that for me-- it would be no charge to me! They seem to really care for the animals, they'll want a video of your home showing the areas the dog will be present in, as well as a video of your yard, so try to go prepared because they won't let you take a pet home until after they've seen your video!

I stopped in on Wednesday afternoon to look at a cat listed on the website, named Sandra. I met her, and instantly fell in love with her. Before I left the facility, I filled out an application, and was told about the 24 hour hold she would be placed on, preventing anyone from adopting her for that period of time. I informed the staff that me and my boyfriend wanted her, but due to our schedule could not get her until Friday at 4:30. I called the morning of Friday (today) asking if there was any way to hold her until the end of the day considering we were dead set on coming in. If a deposit would have been required to hold longer, I would have done it. Super nice people working at Scott County Humane Society. We had a TNR done for a cat, and they did a wonderful job. Very positive experience. I highly recommend this Humane Society! :-)

The miscommunication and the customer service over the phone was horrible. We have been keeping a watch on a dog ever since it was listed as a stray. We were informed on Wed, Feb 11, 2026 the dogs will be transferred to another facility and the persons of interest will be notified once the dog has been released from the hold. We were excited ans looking forward adopting a dog. We even visited the website a few times a day to ensure we were on track. Around 1130am today, noticed the dog was not listed any more. We were thinking he got transferred to another facility. I contacted them and couldn't get anyone until 45 minutes later. I finally got someone on the phone. Must have been really busy. Honestly I love all animals I only give you a five star review based on the ani Animals…. I recently send on Facebook that this establishments in need of cat food I seen the picture they posted of 11 cans of food so I mentioned to my man we should donate …the first thing he did was went and spent 112$ on boxes and bags of food and treats.when dropping it off the staff was very rude over the door being propped open to help him carry the items easier… I know your job is hectic and sad from time to time but you shouldn’t treat people like that… you get what you give in life I truly hope those two ladies have the life they deserve ..I’ll still donate because it’s not the animals fault but shame on you ladies!!!!! Do better!
