Customer Reviews
I adopted a wonderful cat from here about a week and a half ago! I had a great experience from the moment I arrived at the shelter. The adoption process was easy! I filled out an application ahead of time so I'm sure that sped things up a little bit. They sent home all of her records from there, a bag of food, and even medications she needed to finish up. My cat seems to be adjusting well and is a huuuuge lovebug. All in all I'm very pleased with my experience! If I ever end up adopting another pet, I will 100% be adopting from here.
I just left here with my 2nd adoption from them. My first was our dog we got a few years ago. We met with his brother and then him. We knew right away he was the one. It was a pretty fast decision. I just left with a cat we adopted this time and let me tell you….they were so patient with us!! I think we looked at almost all of the cats…Some even a couple times! We never felt rushed or like we inconveniencing anyone. We were probably there for almost 4 hours. 🫣 The staff is AMAZING!! Thank you HSEC ❤️ We love our new addition to our family.
I’m posting this to share a very disappointing experience with the front desk manager, Kristina Will. I came in to responsibly return a dog I had adopted he was too hyper for my one-year-old daughter, and I didn’t want to risk her safety. I explained clearly that he wasn’t a bad dog, just better suited for kids aged four and up. Instead of understanding, Kristina was rude, dismissive, and raised her voice at me for not having an appointment something I was never told was required when I first called to notify them. Her tone was unprofessional and hostile, even though I remained calm and respectful the entire time. She made inappropriate comments about the dog, saying he’d now have to go in with the strays because I didn’t make an appointment. It felt like she was punishing the dog for som
Wonderful animal shelter. They explained all of our dogs eccentricities, and history. She was taken in by two different families and returned because of her snapping and showing aggression to other dogs. However, her aggressiveness was not due to being a mean dog, she was just nervous, and acted out. She has turned out to be a wonderful dog, who is totally devoted to my wife. We now have two loyal German Shepherds. One for me, and now, one for my wife. Make sure to check out Elkhart County Animal Shelter, they do a wonderful job! And spaying and neutering and vaccines are all included for the most reasonable price of $25. Highly recommended.
Adopted our cat four years ago and she is still the best addition to our family! They were great to work with and helped with anything we needed.
