Great experience overall: kind people, healthy dog, reasonable price, smooth process. The only negative is the informality of the network (below). Not a lot was known about my puppy before adoption. The vet found he needed deworming (common for a rescue), and was likely younger than previous estimates, but was otherwise in great shape. We met the puppy just a few days after being approved. They would have let us bring him home immediately, but we had some preparing to do so we came back later in the week for him. The foster family was full of love and the puppy was obviously feeling safe and secure with them. We just adopted our puppy from Homeward Bound, our fifth dog from HB over the past seventeen years. These sweet rescues (typically from areas in the south) are the best dogs! Everyone at HB is compassionate & thorough & supportive & we love working with them! We’re so grateful for the important work HB does to save animals. They care so deeply. This is my second dog I have adopted through NY HWB. People are great and helpful dogs come neutered. All paperwork for dogs vaccinations come w the packet. Highly recommend NY Homeward Bound. Reasonable priced!

Highly recommend this group!! I really appreciated that they are so careful with the matching process. They really have wonderful foster homes and make sure the dogs are going to a safe and loving home. The foster mom that had our dog came to our house and made sure that everything was in place to make for an easy and safe transition for everyone involved. After adopting, we found that the dog had a medical issue and HB stepped right back in and supported us through it from start to finish. The level of care that it put into every success story is palpable. We are so grateful!

If you are looking to rescue a dog, I would highly recommend doing it with Homeward Bound Dog Rescue. We adopted a dog over 11 years ago from them. When he passed away, we decided to adopt another dog. Homeward Bound takes great care to be sure the dogs are going to homes that can give them everything they need. Their application process is easy. The dogs are vetted, given the shots they need and are microchipped. Homeward Bound is in constant communication with you and will answer any questions you may have. They want to be sure the dog has its forever home. We are very thankful we went through the adoption process with Homeward Bound.
