I adopted my cat from Homeward bound in December of 2019. He was friendly and patient at the shelter and no behavioral issues were disclosed at the time of adoption. Once he was home and settled it was immediately apparent that he was more feisty and has bitten and scratched me. Instead of returning him, I decided to work with him and give him a home. I was able to reduce his anxiety and reduce scratchesz Fast forward and my family has grown, baby in tow and some of those old behaviors has returned and increased, putting me and potentially my babies safety at risk. So I reached out to Homeward bound- with full transparency, disclosing his behavior (even though I was not done the same kindness upon adoption) and they have refused to take him back stating he will be hard to rehome. TLDR: This shelter is staffed with passionate animal lovers who advocate for the pets in their care. They take great care of them and they are generous with help and support post-adoption. The fees are a fraction of the price. Overall, this is a great place to find your new best friend. In 2018, I had the privilege of working with Homeward Bound to adopt my diva, Tessa (formerly Star). I was permitted to enter the general cat play room and I spent some time bonding with multiple great kit cats but Tessa slapped them out of my lap and supplanted herself there. She adopted me. I went to the conference room to sign the paperwork. It was confusing at first but the staff helped me through it. They informed me I absolutely needed a pet carrier before I took her home and though that was common s

I initially brought my cat through their low cost spay/neuter program back in 2023. My initial opinion was that they were friendly and attentive to my cat. Fast forward TWO years, I had moved and needed copies of my cat’s spay certificate. I also currently work at an animal shelter and I get that it takes time to pull records. I also expressed that I wasn’t in a big rush to receive the records, just that I needed copies when they were able to do so. I was then told that they do not keep records that long and that they were unable to help me, but this was after I had reached out to them and they ignored me. I then had our office reach out to them regarding the copies (as it is state law to hold onto medical records for at least 7 years in the state of VT) of the paper work. They then sent o

This place was wonderful! My new cat is a perfect fit and had all shots and medical needs all up to date. Totally worth the adoption fee which was minimal in my opinion. All the animals were very well taken care of and had some spacious community areas. They were quick to respond to my message and make an appointment and I adored the staff! They’re doing really good things here, a great shelter to support! We love our kitty Artemis(changed from Rascal😋) thanks Homeward Bound!😍
