Holdenville Animal Shelter

My first time visiting this shelter i was skeptical about it because when you pull up its in a small shack like building. After walking up to the building we were greeted with kindness and the staff showed us the dogs. The staff was knowledgeable about each dog and all the cages were clean. Like most shelters there was a strong smell in the building. I think they are doing all they can with what they can to help all the fur babies.

I volunteer out there and I see/hear/notice a great deal. For a small town with to many problems a miracle couldn't fix, the shelter is something that has many positive things to be commended on. For the most part the employees are good and are there because they want to be there, instead having to be. Of course they (we) all have our faults and have improvements that could be made, ultimately the animals are very well taken care of there and have a great facility, food and veterinary care. I do believe that it's a great shelter mostly because the partnership with the Halo Organization, volunteers and charitable donors that keeps a great deal of situations from being bad or even occuring. Halo being a ombudsmen or the animal advocate keeps the shelter very well balanced and in check. Far b

Personally I have read a lot of reviews on the animal shelter. They say it's nasty and not a good shelter. But I seen a group of ladies that are taking in stray animals and doing the best with what they have. I adopted a dog from this shelter. And she is rough around the edges but she an amazing girl. I would recommend this animal shelter because they knew about the puppy I was adopting. They had paper work together thank you to the shelter workers!

Very nice folks easy to work with The only problem was I was told I was getting a terrier mix. Turns out it's a Shepard Mix. They need to see a new vet that can identify the puppy's better. I would not ever take her back but instead of 15 pounds she is going to be 60 pounds not the lap dog I was looking for but I love her anyway!

I have to say there are not many people that understand how much hard work goes into taking care of these pups! I would personally like to thank the staff for all their hard work and efforts. Also they are a no kill shelter and that's also amazing there are just not enough of these type shelters around. I will be stopping by to volunteer some time to help these gals out for sure!!
