HOC Rose Sanctuary Rescue

I have been a volunteer at HOC this entire summer. The owner is very caring, you can see she loves the horses. She is always talking to them and you can tell they know her voice. Every horse is either completely blind or has vision issues but it is amazing how these horses adapt. If you are thinking of volunteering with horses, you can't get better experience than here!

Wonderful experience. The horses are getting very good care. Each one gets special attention because they all have different personalities. It's sad to know that they can't see but they manage quite well. Each horse has a partner horse that they follow and they keep close to. Its wonderful to see someone who understands disabilities and devotes their time to give these animals a place to roam and live their life!

My daughter, mom, and I had a lovely time meeting the horses and caretakers. My daughter was able to feed and brush the horses, and we all mucked stalls. Such a valuable education and therapeutic experience. It is inspiring to see all that HOC Rose Sanctuary Rescue has done to create an environment that allows the horses to live among other horses- and humans- who value them. Wish we lived closer!

The head of this rescue doesn't seem to want to adopt ANY of the horses out. There are great homes out there but she seems to be very controlling, almost like she hoards what she's taken in. Sunny, a wonderful horse, though blind, is a fabulous horse. She rides out well and is the bomb! I wanted to adopt her but was told it'd never happen.

I love that they take in animals that people might not give a second chance to but these guys help them and they have helped me by giving me a volunteering job that i am going to love
