Hemlock Animal Hospital

I want to start by saying the team at Hemlock Animal Hospital has always been very kind. I don’t have anything bad to say about them as people. But I do have something honest to say about my experience. My dog, Shadow, passed away — and while everyone was polite and friendly, I couldn’t shake the feeling that the focus was more on the money side of things than the life of my dog. And let me be clear: I would have gladly traded all the niceness in the world for more urgency, clearer options, or stronger direction that might have given Shadow a fighting chance. Being sweet at the counter doesn’t help when you’re losing someone you love. What really stings is driving by and seeing the shiny new building going up. I am extremely unhappy with the way I feel I was overcharged for tapeworm dewormers for our 2 kittens. I paid $43.92 for each application of Defender. I could have purchased this for less than $10 on the Internet. The instructions state it needs to be applied below the neck. I inquired as to why they put this on the skull between the ears! They seem to believe this was correct. They also said I need to return in 30 days for a second treatment. This is Bullcrap! I feel they took advantage of me as a senior citizen (I am 78). They're charging so much for a treatment they applied WRONG. I noticed later that they had 20% off on the 20th, but never mentioned it when my total bill came to more than $226 on Feb. 20th.

Took my cat recently, i understand that vets are doing their job to recommend a bunch of things and guide you through the responsibilities of having a pet. However, the vet had an aggressive attitude and tone toward my cat and no respect. They recommending me things that nobody wants a vet to tell you that were not medical based.

Hemlock is an absolutely wonderful vet office! I never feel like I’m being overcharged and they always go above and beyond to take care of all of my fur babies. I drive an hour still to bring my babies there after moving because of what great care they take! They did a limb removal surgery on one of my pups about 3 years ago and it saved her life! I trust them with everything and would recommend to anyone looking for a trustworthy, reliable vet!!

Where do I even start with these amazing people… my sweet 9 year old Moose had to have a lipoma removed from her back leg. The doctor and staffs communication with me with what they thought, what needed to happen, what could happen if actions weren’t taken, and so on. After I brought my girl home from surgery, the first potty break blood started rushing out from the bandage, and I almost came apart. I called the vet and they again walked me through what they did in the surgery and that this could happen, BUT if I wanted to bring her back up there I could. And I did. It happened twice where we had to bring her up there and every time, yes it was a normal thing. They treated me and my fiancé with compassion and made sure before we left our concerns were addressed, and most importantly that M
