Urgent Animal Welfare Concerns: Reptile Neglect and Unsafe Housing Rating: ☆☆☆☆☆ I am deeply concerned by the living conditions of the reptiles at Heartland Pets. During my recent visit, I observed several "Asst. Cornsnakes" being cohabitated in a single, small enclosure (see photo below). Key issues observed: Dangerous Cohabitation: Solitary species like corn snakes and rat snakes should never be housed together in small retail enclosures. This leads to extreme stress, competition for resources, and the very real risk of cannibalism or injury. Zero Enrichment or Shelter: The enclosure lacks any proper hides, logs, or clutter. Visited Erie for the day, came from out of state for some time with friends. Remembered what people in my area had said about this notorious pet store and wanted to see it for myself while at the mall. Instantly felt sick to my stomach when I saw the Australian Shepherds on the outside cage, on display in a cramped cage, being treated like merchandise rather than living creatures. Upon walking into the store, I was nearly brought to tears at the sight of the dejected, zombie-like puppies held in cages on a wall. Cramped conditions, with water bottles on the sides, and no joy in sight— this place looked like puppy jail! These puppies and the other animals (bunnies, mice, etc) deserve to be freed and this place shut down! Inhumane and disgusting, how can the people that operate this place

ZERO STARTS My dog came from this store. She is about to turn 5 years old. When she first came from the store she was under nurished and eating her own feces because this store under feeds their dogs. She was extremely over priced. After she turned two years old she started having health issues. She has crazy allergies that no vet has been able to get under control. She is apparently a purebred bullmastiff but looks more like a boxer? Don't trust this store. They are crooks and treat the animals horribly. I've heard nothing but horror stories. I love my dog and I didn't personally buy her from this store, I am her second family. I would NEVER support this store in any manner. I fear for what what health issues may come in the future from terrible breeding lines.

Gorgeous puppies here but no prices are listed!!! Ya have to ask which to me is absurd and unacceptable…………… yes you have $$$$$$ dogs here which run from $2500 to $4K, but those prices need to be listed! Entrapping a customer by holding it first to “fall in Love” is not acceptable. The animals seemed well cared for, and the place was clean. But I don’t need a personal shopping service to let me know what their prices are………..no bueno

A friend of mine just bought a St Bernard puppy here and she took her to the vet immediately after adopting. The vet said she was malnourished, extremely under weight and had a very bad UTI. She was told by the pet store to feed her 1/2 cup of food twice a day! The Vet said that she should be eating 1-1/2 cups twice a day! They are literally starving these dogs. THIS PLACE NEEDS TO BE SHUT DOWN! This is her sister that is still there. Extreamly underweight!
