Heartland Animal Shelter

Recently adopted Hulligan, a 9 year old senior dog. The process went well. We fostered him for a few days and then went back to adopt. He is a sweet, gentle dog and was very well taken care of by Heartland and his foster mom. The people here are very caring and the facility itself is very well taken care of. Highly recommend this shelter.

I went to the website, which is great. After finding a dog i was interested in, I went for a visit. This is a well run facility with friendly staff. The dog i visited with came in very happy and well socialized. He was also wearing an adorable hoodie. They had tons of toys and treats available to work with the dog. They left me in the room to spend the time I needed then came back and answered all my questions. I ended up rescuing a dog from another shelter, however, that is no reflection on this shelter, the amazing staff, or the dog I visited. This place is great and they do a great service! Thank you!

My mom adopted two beautiful kitties from Heartland earlier this month, and I was so inspired I went and adopted one myself. The staff truly cares about the animals and wants you to find the perfect furry friend for you. Heartland pulls critters from publicly funded shelters that put animals down due to space constraints, and gets them fully vetted and in the mental space for adoption. So, when you adopt from Heartland you are saving another life by creating space for them to go pull another animal from an overcrowded kill shelter. They provide full testing paperwork and vaccination schedules for adopted animals which I thought was a great plus. I will be recommending Heartland to my friends and family. Plus our kitties are so sweet, sassy, and beautiful!!!

We adopted Peanut (now Miles) from Heartland and couldn’t be happier with our experience. Teri, who was fostering Peanut, introduced us to him and helped make the adoption process a very smooth one. She and Jenny N were always available to answer our question and support us through this process. They have also kept in touch with us after to process, which demonstrates how passionate they and Heartland are about what they do. Thanks for your support and for providing us with our new family member whom we couldn’t be happier with.

This is a wonderful place! The staff are so caring and want each adoption to be a good fit, so the animal can find their forever home! They are very helpful and supportive throughout the adoption process as well as after adoption. I love that I can reach out to them with any questions! I had such a great experience adopting two cats that when my dad was looking to adopt a cat, I knew just the place!
