Customer Reviews
I want to share my experience so others understand what happened. I found a loose dog early in the morning when he ran out in front of my car. I stopped, checked on him, and he was very friendly. I spent about 20 minutes driving around Loyall asking people on the street, in cars, on porches, and posted his photo online trying to locate an owner. When I couldn’t find anyone and had to get to work, I brought him to the shelter because I believed it was the safest place for him until his family could be found. Unfortunately, when I arrived, I was treated as if I was intentionally surrendering him, even though I explained the situation. I was surprised and hurt by how I was spoken to, especially as someone new to the area just trying to help. I’ve volunteered at shelters before, so I know th
Sweet people. Doing good work for these sweet fur babies God bless them
They need any help with food and litter for dogs and cats. If I could have adopted more than 1 kitty I would have. Before you buy from a person, adopt a spayed or neutered cat or dog from Harlan animal Shelter.
I am so thankful for the people who dedicate their time and work at the animal shelter!! I want to encourage everyone who can donate any food and supplies or a donation each month would be wonderful, I am going to do the same. I didn’t realize how much we need this place and the people until recently.
The Harlan County Animal Shelter does not euthanize animals as reported by some people. They try their best to place animals through rescue groups and adoption. The adoption fees include spaying or neutering of the animal also. They shelter is also using a program of catch and release after spaying or neutering cats to control the pet population. The fees for adoption are the same in most shelters that try to place the animals in good homes. We have one of the best shelters in the state.
