Haltom City Animal Services

Iam so thankful for this place. Yesterday I found a stray cat on my property who had somehow crawled into my garage and was honestly in the throes of death. I made several phone calls trying to find a place to take it because I didn’t know what to do and somebody said you have to call Haltom City that’s your District. Well upon reading the reviews...I was really scared to call them. When I arrived I was greeted by a lady who did sound very "firm". But after I gave her all my ID information they were wonderful. A young man by the name of Howard came and helped me get the poor thing in the door...and another lady came immediately to check on it. Haltom city residences beware! As a abiding resident and doing the right thing, I was mistreaded by the workers and sought after like I was lying about a dog that was found in our city limits. I understand that they have to question me but they continued to ask the same questions that were honestly answered and were annoyed about me leaving the dog, the lady even reiterated that I would he held with charges for leaving what she claimed was my animal. I had to remind her that it was not my dog and doing a good deed. They said that I had the dog too long, after I explained to them i was instructed to call back several times to get an approval by the supervisor to leave the dog. If I could give it zero stars I would ! This place should truly be ashamed of themselves. I'm a huge animal lover my daughter found two STRAY dogs she took them here trying to do the right thing and not leave them to live on the streets. Never been through this before We took them to a shelter in the city they were found and they wouldn't take them. So we came here .They literally threatened my daughter had her in tears telling her if she was lying about where she found the dogs that she could be arrested ! Really when it comes down to it does it matter where a stray was FOUND no they are STRAYS. They even went as far as telling me if they were released back on the street Where they were originally found ID be charged with abandonment . It's not OUR fault they obviously had crappy owners

I called about a month ago and left a voicemail about donating supplies. I never received a call back. When shelters depend so much on supplies they should call people back willing to donate. Also, when I first moved to Haltom about 2 years ago I took some items to donate. The door was locked during business hours which made donating difficult.

We had been to a few shelters, to find our new family friend and we were absolutely blown away with this place! From start to finish it felt like the animals were being served properly and that we were being treated like royalty with such care and consideration and it really did feel like it was normal for them to act like this. the place was built well and it made sense on how they build it and it was extremely clean
