I would give this place -5 stars if I could. I dropped off a Tuxedo cat that had shown up at my work on Christmas eve. He was a really sweet boy but he wasn't fixed. Some of the staff were incredibly rude and the lady who runs the place had a horrible attitude. After filling out paperwork and dropping the little guy off, I leave for work. This was about 3 pm. At 9 pm, the same cat shows back up at my work. Turns out, nobody wanted to fool with "the mess" of an unfixed animal, due to the holiday break they were taking. So the solution was to just put an unfixed cat back out into the community, next to an interstate exit, in 10 degree weather? VERY PROFESSIONAL!!! I got the cat, took him home with me, and proceeded to return him the next day. When questioned on whether or not the cat would j

The current staff of this municipal shelter have the animals' well being at the forefront of their efforts. They support the community through spay and neuter assistance, a pet food pantry as supplies allow and guidance with behavior or pet ownership. They maintain a high level of professionalism, even when dealing with uneducated and less than understanding community members who think the staff is there to solve their poor decisions and "emergencies". The animals in their care are provided stimulating and safe housing, as well as medical care when needed and placement in the most appropriate home possible. Friendly, knowledgeable staff who love and care for the animals every needs. They work with rescues, and also allow people to foster. The current Director is the BEST this county has ever had for the shelter.

At first, I heard the reviews that everyone had posted online when they said that this place barely responds and they end up ghosting people. I defended the shelter and I told people that it’s hard to run a shelter special if you have minimal staff. In the last week I applied for a certain dog and I made a post about this dog specifically and the post had over 300 positive reactions and every 20 people told me they wanted an update on this dog. I offered to pay over the phone and I offered to take off work early and be there two hours after the shelter open today to see if I could bring the dog home. We live on a farm we have no other animals. I have a full-time job. I have two children and I work from home and my husband is a stay at home dad. We had a dog two years ago that passed away
