Gloucester County Animal Shelter

I had an excellent experience in my interactions here. I can’t say enough good things about the shelter. On Monday 1/29 I met my cat (formally known as Kovu) in a nice small room full of cat toys, cat tree, tunnel, treats etc. It seemed that they did everything possible to make the cat comfortable. There were 2 volunteers present- one who brought the cat out to meet me -& then individually checked in on us to see how it was going. I thought it was great these folks come to spend time with the animals to help them feel better during their time spent in the shelter. Dealing with the office was easy. They sent me home with some of the kibble he was used to eating and a Christmas stocking chock full of treats and toys. They provided his health records - up to date- and they had microchipped hi

Carl, the one who over sees everything, killed my cat after I calle multiple times to set up a future adoption. Bambi was in my family for 7 years, chipped, and had records. I told them that the day they picked her up. They picked her up because my mom was not doing well with her alziehmers and was out into a home. Animal control picked up the animals and we called right away to set up a new home for bambi who has been in our lives for 7 years. The OPRA request showed the numerous calls made. They had our families information. Bambi had a home. They made no attempt to stop the euthanasia. Carl refused to refer to Bambi as she, and kept calling her “it” despite constant correction. I knew about this shelter, but have never been. Saw quite a bit of posts on Facebook for adoptable animals. I really wasn't looking...but they say...your previous fur baby always leads another to you when they pass...and he sure did!!! After 3 months of missing my best friend, he sent me a very special & loving replacement. And when I tell you my HEART IS FULL!!! OT SURE IS! There is nothing more satisfying than coming home to a loving & happy dog. He makes a bad day good! Oh and this place is very clean. They have YOUR loving & happy fur baby waiting for YOU! My wife and I adopted two beautiful cats little over a month ago 3 and 5 years old. They bring nothing but joy to everybody to the household since we got them. Love them to death, Whiskey and Meeko . People helping us at the shelter were fantastic. Shelter gets 5 stars A+++

I filled out an adoption application and I received a call a week later asking for proof of residency (with a tax bill) because they could not verify it. Which I found to be very weird, my husband and I 100% own our home for 5 years (no mortgage). I sent a copy of the tax bill within 5 minutes of the call and never got a call back. I called several times only to have the phone line "busy" and my voicemails ignored. I have over 20 years of experience being a dog owner and my husband over 20 years of experience with cats and dogs. We have decided to look elsewhere. It has been made clear they are not interested in having their pets adopted.
