My dog, Darby, and I have loved our experience at GSDT. Darby is an older dog (5yrs) that we put back into beginner training for more mental stimulation and engagement. We never thought Darby would take to the class well because we were told he “didn’t want to work” from previous trainers - but the trainers at GSDT proved us wrong!! They helped identified what Darby needed to motivate him to participate, and since then, they helped mold me and Darby into being a great handler&dog duo. The trainers are amazing, confident and give great direction and constructive feedback to help you and your dog excel in and out of class. Since joining, Darby looks forward to going to class, he walks exceptionally on a leash and is less distracted from various people or other dogs that pass us by. It’s trul
I have a young German Shepherd Dog that I have been bringing to training at the German Shepherd Club of Chicago in Hanover Park. I am very happy with the program there and the dedication of the instructors. The accept all breeds for training, but the focus is on GSDs. They work very well with both the owners and the dogs. They are careful to work with each owner and dog in a way that in appropriate for the owner's and dog's needs and characteristics. I look forward to continuing our training there and strongly recommend them for your dog training.
My experience at the dog training class has been disappointing. The sessions felt disorganized, with each lesson moving too quickly for my dog to learn effectively. The biggest issue was with the trainer who teaches the “dog and handler class” on Sundays. She was condescending and mocked me for paying too much attention to my dog, making me feel uncomfortable. Her attitude was unprofessional. I had hoped for a positive environment to bond with my pet, but instead, I found stress and frustration. I now dread returning for my final sessions, feeling it's been a waste of time and money. I recommend looking for a more supportive training program.
If want your dog to be in a circus, that's the place to be. They want your dog to be already trained. That's not what we signed up for. It was a beginners class! I'm sorry that my dog can't go through a tunnel... Your dog barks few times they put you outside the gate/inside. They treat you like it's your fault. We went to a different place and it's much nicer and trainers are nice. I suggest 1 on 1 training if you gsd is leash reactive.
I went regularly about 3 years ago. They helped me with my GSD’s reactivity. I cherish all my memories there. They train your dog like a show dog and they teach YOU how to train your dog. I miss my dog (now deceased) but I’m so grateful for all the guidance they gave me throughout the years.
