We adopted lucky a one year old shepard hound mix a month ago. The staff was very kind and upfront about what training he would need. We took their advice and he is doing wonderful. I receive follow up calls to see how he was doing. They work hard to train the dogs so they are adoptable. We had to board him for two days at the beach and they said whoever worked with him at the shelter did an excellent job, he went right into his pen when asked. I would recommend this shelter. Very loving with the dogs
My daughter's dog was picked up from in front of her house by someone "concerned " about him. He was immediately dropped off at this shelter. Very shortly after noticing the dog was gone, she went to go pick him up Friday evening. My daughter was forced to leave the dog there for 48 hours until Monday and then was extorted out of $20. The staff obviously don't care about the animals welfare and simply are in the cash business of dog napping. These public funded government agencies are out of control. If I would give no stars if I could.
Two days ago I adopted Audrey, a six month old Lab mix puppy. The staff worked hard to get her spayed right away so I didn't have to wait weeks to take her home. She's great company during this pandemic and staying at home. I'm so greatful to have her.
I went here 12 years ago "just to look" and brought home my cat Zoey. She was 12 weeks old so she wasn't a small little kitten. When I set eye's on her I knew she was mine. Half simesse with such beautiful blue eyes. The volunteers were very kind and helpful. The place is older but Clean. I would certainly check this place out if looking for a new pet. She has been a very healthy cat, great fun and a source of comfort all these years. Check it out first! You decide.
In August 1999 I adopted a Beagle/Boarder Collie mix that I named Toby. Tabitha Lantz was the volunteer who helped me that day. Toby and I bonded like I had never before experienced. He and I spent many hours together in the woods exploring. Toby used to accompany me to see my family in Northern Virginia. Eventually, Toby and I moved back to Virginia. He lived for many years and finally died at about the age of 15. I have other rescue dogs now, but I still miss Toby. Thank you for all you do to save homeless animals!
