Gallia County Animal Shelter

What a wonderful and caring crew!! Thank you for the gift of our Chloe/Ruby!! She is currently laying on the bed and eating a pup cup. We are blessed beyond measure.

Waited for a month for them to pick up THEIR cage because they made my senior father collect the wild dogs. When we couldn't get them to come pick them up we took them to the shelter and was absolutely screamed at by the woman working there. She was so close she actually spit on me. Terrible angry person who probably upsets the animals but I guess it's better someone so hateful should work with animals instead of humans.

Two strays were dropped at the gate at the bottom of my lane out in the country. I called and spoke with Lorrie, the warden, as I learned when I droopped the dogs off. Lorrie and al the ladies at the shelter are awesome! Gentle and kind to the dogs and they handled the whole thing without any issue. I'm from the East Coast and every time I deal with the people of Gallia County, personally and professionally I realize once again that I couldn't have retired in a better place. Thank you for being the wonderful people you are!

If I could give 0 stars I would. Lady doesn’t return calls. Has major attitude. Showed up at my house to pick up a dog and wouldn’t speak to us. Offered to show her pictures of all the ticks on the dog before I pulled them off and just ignored me and walked away.

I had a very unsatisfactory experience with this shelter. I was viciously attacked by three dogs in the rural area I live in. I am no longer able to walk on my surrounding roads. I called the shelter and the manager said she would take care of the problem. A couple of days later I was again attacked by the same three dogs. I made another call to the shelter and the supervisor said they do not pick up dogs or adhere to Ohio laws pertaining to nuisance and dangerous dogs. I then emailed all three Gallia County Commissioners advising them of the situation and unresponsiveness off the shelter; I received no response from any of the commissioners. I feel it is a shame that there is such disregard for the safety of Gallia County residents.
