From the first day I met Bill I knew he was something special. My dog, Mama knew it too! She loved him and so did I. He would sit on the floor with her and teach her something and she couldn’t wait to show him back. He would explain to me all the reasoning behind each command he taught. He gave me things to do between each session to keep my dogs mind active. If I had a particular problem he would address it and tell me where to get more information to help me. I consider myself very lucky to have found Bill and hope to see him again in the spring.
We were a brand-new, first-time dog family—the kind that thought “How hard can a puppy be?” (Spoiler alert: very hard 😅). About five months into puppy parenthood, after realizing love alone does not equal training, we called Bill for help with learning how to properly train, support, and—most importantly—keep our dog safe. From the very first phone call, we felt an instant connection and knew Bill was the right fit. He was incredibly responsive, super knowledgeable, and made us feel capable instead of overwhelmed. Bill is genuine, patient, calm, and always has the dog’s best interest at heart—not just what’s easiest for the humans. What really sets him apart is how he explains dog psychology. He didn’t just tell us what to do—he helped us understand why our dog behaves the way he does, h
I am a cat person and my wife is a dog person. As soon as we had the house and the space we got a dog. Grace was a little younger than what we were looking for so she still had a lot of puppy in her. Having no real experience with having a dog we found Bill and he trained us both. Grace was a lump of clay ready to be molded but I wasn’t as easy. What I appreciated the most about Bill, besides how well Grace responded to him was the way he would watch me and how I interacted with Grace. He taught me how to be patient with her and build our bond so that she wanted to follow the commands not just comply with them. I appreciated that our time was measured in progress and not in hours and he wasn’t finished until Grace demonstrated true mastery of the skills.
Bill worked with me and my new rescue dog, Leo, for 12 sessions at my home. With Bill’s patient, compassionate guidance I watched my fearful former-stray dog gain confidence and calmness. Bill taught me how to cue and reward Leo for positive behaviors, and we worked a lot on exercises that helped Leo build trust. Between training sessions Bill was available to answer questions and problem solve with me. His love of dogs is obvious, and he even researched the breeds that are mixed in Leo to help explain why Leo behaves the way that he does. He would come up with fun activities to end the trainings and my dogs loved that (find the hidden treats or agility exercises onto platforms). I would highly recommend Bill’s expertise to anyone looking for guidance on training their dog(s).
Bill is an amazing dog trainer. My puppy Lyra has been working with him for awhile now and is doing fabulous. Bill is passionate about what he does and has been there to help me train Lyra. He’s very available, responsive, patient, and has a great connection with Lyra. I honestly would be so lost if it wasn’t for Bill since Lyra is my first dog I’ve ever had. Bill makes training fun and it is very effective. We have worked on not digging, leave it, and other commands. Lyra is excelling with her training, thanks to Bill.
