I believe animals should be taking care of. After all we are all from planet earth. We have interfered in their life . So we should take care of them . Not abandoned them in a shelter. Front Street it self has great people working taking care of these precious animals . They are great . Great service. We should support them. Good luck thank you for being there for these animals. Thumbs up.

I've been working at a construction project in North Sac (Lampasas Ave. / Edgewater Drive) for the last few months. Almost every day, this sweet female German Shepherd mix, who has been freely walking the streets for months, comes by to visit & I give her food, water & shade. She has been in a constant battle with pit bulls that are coming from a nearby homeless encampment. Most times she outruns them, but not this time. When she showed up yesterday, she was chewed up pretty bad, with infected puncture wounds & I had seen enough! I took her into the shelter & much to my amazement, was informed that she is locally owned & is microchipped! How any pet owner can let this beautiful, sweetheart run freely on the streets & end up like this is totally disgusting!!! In my opinion, such a person sh

My experience with this shelter is limited and based mainly on their Doggy Day Out program from before COVID. I’ve participated once on my own and once with my aunt. The program itself was a meaningful experience. The shelter provided supplies like food, water, and toys. I spent several hours with a well-behaved pit bull and even took her to Old Sacramento for publicity and enrichment. She handled the environment well, and it felt rewarding to give her that experience. One staff member seemed annoyed when I arrived late, but that was my responsibility. My aunt volunteers here frequently and cares deeply about the shelter. She’s had positive experiences and enjoys helping here. It’s also the closest shelter to her and she dislikes travelling far. I was disappointed when Doggy Day Out was di

I have been to this shelter many times to browse and (hopefully) find a pet for my husband and I. I would be giving them 5 stars if it wasn't for one conversation I had with a woman who works for front street in the cat area. she told me to put sanitizer on (albeit condescendingly) between each cat to prevent disease. my issue comes from the fact that they are acknowledging they have cats with transferable diseases housed in places with other cats who do not have diseases. they are somehow trying to work it back to the people looking at and petting the cats rather than the fact they dont want to put the poor animals who have diseases separately from the ones who are healthy. quite shameful if you ask me. hopefully they can figure out how to handle this in a way that doesn't blame people l

I adopted the most cutest and sweetest dog ever to give her a second chance at companionship and love. I gladly paid the $300 adoption fee only to pick up and for her be covered in dirt with matted hair!!!! and to make matters worse, I was told that because she had surgery the day that I picked her up ( the date I was told to pick her up) that I cannot bathe her for 10 DAYS!!! I had to purchase allergy medicine for my daughter and I because neither one of us can stop sneezing. This was so inconsiderate and I am extremely disappointed in the lack of care that my baby girl was shown. I adopted her on 08/09/25 and was told to pick her up on 08/13/25 they had 4 DAYS prior to me picking her up to ensure she was clean. I hope this message is read and received, so that changes can be made becaus
