Franklin County Sheriff's Office Regional Dog Shelter

I had a great dog for my wife. Then my wife had a fall and ruptured her female and had to have a operation. After that she was not able to take care of her new puppy. The puppy needed to be trained. But she couldn't do it. So we had to find a good place to bring him. I called Franklin county sheriff's office and spoke to a wonderful lady . She was great. And more than willing to help me. She had me drop my NOWA off the same day. I couldn't ask for better help. The place is the best. And I just wanted to thank them for all the help.

Everyone there was great! Small shelter but it was air-conditioned on a very hot day, 91. I believe they had a total of 7 dogs. 3 from a hoarding situation, that's one that I was looking at, sunshine. She was a real sweetie. You don't fill out one of these extremely long and involved online forms before you go. You throw it out after you've met the dog. Then they do a background check of your references, 2, and that's it. Should hear back before the beginning of next week. 250 adoption fee which is more than reasonable. I was looking at several places that were up to $750, Ludacris!!

The folks at the shelter have such an incredible love for animals and the work that they do. It is clear that they are making the most of what they have and of all the donations that their charitable organization receives. I trust that dogs only get adopted to fitting families who prove that they are capable of caring for an animal, and I sincerely hope to adopt from them in the future.

I just went in to try and inquire about dogs available to save from this little pound in Turners Falls. And I was met with attitude at the counter, I was told that I had to make an appointment in order to see the dogs which was not talked about online they just have open hours and I was made to feel very uncomfortable like I wasn’t welcome. I will never come back to the shelter and I will tell everyone I know not to come if they want to be treated with any kindness.

Friendly knowledge staff. Honest description of dogs condition and personality. Everyone really cares for the dogs in their care and truly want to place the dogs in a good home.
