Our adoption experience with Elmore SPCA was, unfortunately, a huge disappointment, and I feel compelled to share my honest review. We were led to believe that Simba, a puppy we adopted, was a Lab, but after spending more time with him, and seeking a second opinion we learned that he was actually a Lab-pit mix from a house that regularly brings in litters from an unfixed lab mix mother and unknown father. While this might seem like a minor detail to some, it was frustrating to be misinformed about something that felt important to us and that we clearly communicated — that we are a military family and will not legally be allowed to have a pit bull mix of any kind on a military base, where we will without a doubt live in the near future, as they are a known aggressive breed. This is Walter. He is an amazing boy. He is being fostered out at the moment but would make someone an amazing best friend. He loves car rides and cuddles. And being the center of your world. Oh...and he has a chicken on his but! He just turned two in February I believe but could find out for sure if someone wanted me to. I love that they are a no kill shelter. Very clean for such a small establishment. Love that they have big play pens in the backyard for the dogs to go out and play in. They have amazing volunteers that come and walk and play with dogs on a daily basis.

We adopted our sweet boy Adonis from here and I have nothing but good things to say about them! The amount of knowledge and care they have for the dogs is amazing! They gave us all the info they could for him and made sure we had more than enough time to bond with him and get to know him! They also made sure that we left with everything and anything we could need for him! The amount of love he was given before us was so amazing to see! If you’re looking for a pup, Elmore SPCA will make sure you are matched with the best option and will give any dog or animal all the love they can!:)

Animal Shelters, at times, can be a great place to adopt a pet. My first pet, my best friend was adopted from one. However, the strict adoption policies they implemented made it nearly impossible for me to adopt him( I did it regardless). And this place is one to be wary of. There is no denying to the neglect pets might experience, to which a shelter must step in. That is truth, and this commentary isn’t about this instance. Recently, a good friend of mine had adopted an animal which was taken from her. There are reasons I can’t display here on Google due to privacy reasons, however, the act and the way this shelter had conducted this was unacceptable and wrong.
