Elk County Humane Society

My 9-year old granddaughter is going through some major health issues and has been really down. To cheer her up, we were looking for a kitten to keep her company when she's stuck in bed. I found a beautiful kitten on the Elk County Humane Society's website and called about her. We went the next day to meet the kitten and brought her home. The look on my granddaughter's face when she hot home from school and I handed her the kitten could have easily lit up NYC. They are inseparable now. I highly recommend the Humane Society if you're looking for a new pet. They are wonderful to work with.

Absolutely lovely staff and adoption process. We put in an application in April and visited and picked up our dog a few days later. They were very thorough, I took in both my 6 year old son and other dog to do a meet and greet prior to being approved for adoption - the staff knew how to do a dog introduction properly and took the time required to walk the prospective dog on a leash next to us at a distance and gradually get closer until we could gauge their interest in each other. They went over the dog's medical history in detail and gave me medication for kennel cough that had already been identified and was being treated. I will say, even though we had scheduled a time, they were very busy that day and we were there for a few hours before finalizing the paperwork - so if you're going on

Nice, local shelter doing wonderful work and serving the community in which it is located. This is a non-profit. Be sure to support them. They run a clean facility and have dedicated workers. ____________________________________ This is a revision to my initial review above. We actually adopted a senior dog from this facility a couple of days ago. We got Bella, a mixed-breed sweetheart. The staff at the shelter did a fantastic job screening us and assuring that Bella would be a good match with our current crew. No steps were omitted! I even emailed an inquiry over the weekend, and got an early morning response about my questions. They certainly make the marks!

We had an absolutely wonderful experience with Elk county Humane society, they are so easy to work with, and we're so patient with my work schedule. The best part is they aren't done helping you after the adoption they've helped us so much with adopting our dog Simba and making sure we were in the best possible position to care for him. If your looking to adopt and want the best it's them.
