Edmond Animal Shelter

Clean facility with friendly staff and volunteers. We found the best dog for our family here ☺️ the adoption process was quick and easy. They gave us a toy, treats, and a big bag of food before we left.

The last time I went to this shelter was around late 2023, and I was going there to look at some of the animals. I had no intention of adopting. I noticed that one of staff members were kinda pushy about me wanting to adopt one of the animals. they said something like "you should only come if you're going to adopt." There was two cats in the cages and I did open one of them at a time to pet them. One of the cats did escape from the cages. Not too long after I was told to leave and escorted out by one of the security guards. I guess it's because they told me it's a safety issue or something like that. Since it looks like they have strict rules, they should have more signs all around the shelter informing people what to do when they come in.

Nice, fresh and quiet. Regulations for people entering which is very much needed these days. Person I met inside was very personable, understanding & helpful. So thankful for the positivity in the Edmond Animal Shelter. 💯🐾❤️‍🩹

Brought food and blankets for donation for cats and dogs due to the shutdown. Called ahead of time to let them know. Animal control officer came out begrudgingly to grab a bag of donated dog food. Let the door slam in front of me and my mother holding blankets and other animal food. Very weird.

I found a cat with a broken foot at Mitch park in Edmond. When I arrived with the cat I was told there was nothing they could do for it? Shane told me “Put him back where you found it, cats are pretty good about surviving.” This blindsided me. These people are suppose to care about animals. To see an injured animal and say just drop it off somewhere is insane and cruel. I’m walked out in frustration and left the cat at the door. My wife and daughter are deathly allergic to cats so taking him home wasn’t an option. I was called later and told I was going to be Citated and taken to court for abandoning my animal. So I picked the cat. Truly disheartening to see Edmonds animal care drop to such a disgusting a cruel standard.
