District Veterinary Hospital is exemplary in care, customer service, compassion. After not so great experiences with both my dog and cat elsewhere, I switched to DVH and I am overwhelmed with relief that I did so. Dr. Nichols’ is incredible. She approached my reactive dog without fear, a neutral emotional response, and patience. In fact all staff was completely patient, supportive, and understanding through his tantrums and willing to work through it to make it a good experience for my dog. Dr. Nichols’ really took her time assessing my pets and approached her examinations with thorough intellectual curiosity. We’ve taken our fur babies to District Vet for many years. We’ve recently lost our 16.5 year old so, which they helped us navigate with care and compassion. We also took our new puppy to them this week for her first check up. I have to say ~ the staff over the past year is the best they’ve ever been. Highly recommend.

I absolutely love District Veterinary Hospital (Brookland). Patient communication is fantastic, I totally trust their techs and vets with my animals, they offer transparent pricing, and the facility is clean and welcoming. They are wonderful. So grateful I found District Vet after hopping around to various practices over the years—this is the first clinic I’ve found that delivers the kind of attention, communication, and compassionate care I want for my pets. It is pricey, but in my opinion well worth it.

When we first walked into District Vet Brookland, it wasn’t for a routine visit. We had just moved into DC and were planning to establish care there in a few weeks. Instead, one morning we woke up to our dog vomiting blood. The kind of moment where your stomach drops. We rushed him in. We were new. We were panicked. We didn’t have an established relationship yet. They saw him immediately. There was no lecture. No guilt. No outrageous first-time fees. No one made us feel irresponsible for not already having a DC vet. They just focused on him and took care of him. A few months later, it happened again. More vomiting. Because of weekend timing, we ended up at an emergency hospital that quoted us $10,000, on top of an additional $5,000 visit fee, for obstruction surgery. I remember sitting
