Contented Canines

We adopted a 2 year old cattle dog in September. I knew what we were getting into, lol, and things were moving along, but walking was problematic due to pulling and urges to chase squirrels, cats and scents. In addition he was reactive to dogs on leashes. He would also growl unexpectedly at my partner. There was a lot to work on and I needed some help. Contented Canines has changed my life & my dog's lives for the better! We first found out about Contented Canines after my dog Bailey started having behavioral issues and it made a world of difference. About a year or two after completing the foundation training with Bailey, we got a second dog and Bailey started to have behavioral issues again. We reached out to Colonel Kelly and decided to go through the foundation training with our new dog Rosie. I recommend Colonel Kelly to everyone I know with a dog because he is amazing! This review is long overdue but I wanted to express my gratitude and praise for Tom’s training of my Aussie pup, Hannah several months ago. Hannah was between 6-8 months old and a very outgoing, rambunctious aussie and we had done no previous training with her. My husband and I took Hannah to train onsite at Contented Canine in Columbia for several sessions with Tom. He taught us while he trained Hannah. This investment in time and money has definitely been worth it. Hannah is now 15 months old and much of what Tom taught us and her has become routine. The bridge and reward skill of giving a command, saying yes, then giving a treat has stuck- we now skip the treat most of the time. She also loves her crate and will go rest in there when wanting to have her own time out. She loves the raise

The teaching is absolutely awesome! It’s more about teaching you, the owner, how to interact with your dog and how to get them to do the behaviors/actions you desire. This makes both you and your dog very happy. We got a new puppy… it had been a very long time since we had brought a puppy into our home and it was hard. But then I found Tom Kelly. I definitely recommend Contented Canines to anyone who is looking for help with their pup! You won’t regret it!

We had our 1st class with Tom before our puppy arrived! We're so glad we did! We felt prepared for her arrival. After we got Piper, we spread our other private classes out. Tom worked with us, modeled what it should look like. Our Piper is now 15 months old. She is very well behaved. We can take her anywhere! She gets along with all humans and other dogs. We highly recommend Contented Canines! We have recommended Tom to others and they were very happy!
