City of Pearland Animal Shelter & Adoption Center

Haven't adopted from them, but volunteering is wonderful. Dishes are a chore, but knowing it's for the cutest little creatures in the world make it better, and you can always take a break to play with cats and walk dogs. Below are some doggies named Croissant and Anita, both the sweetest thing I've ever seen.

Daughter-in-law found a dog running down the street by her house. She tried to take over to Pearland Animal shelter and was told due to her address on her drivers license not matching her home address. She was unable to drop the dog off. They would not take it in. So Son went over there who resides in the exact same house and his drivers license address matches. They said they would not take the dog due to He was not the one that found it. She did even though it was running down the road. They are unable to keep the dogs. They have no option other than to put it back on the side of the road and that is what this Pound knew whenever they left there with it horrible resources that we spend our taxes on when they would rather put a dog back on the street versus help it find a owner. SO GLAD we didn't listen to all the 1-star reviews on both Yelp and Google... we had SUCH A GREAT EXPERIENCE AT Pearland Animal Control and Pet Adoption. I mean, I'm not going to lie, after reading all those reviews, I was expecting the worst, I was expecting rude staff, I was expecting to walk in and walk out. We would rate this place 10-stars if we would. First off, the staff here were WONDERFUL. Sarah at the front desk was here both times we came and she was so friendly/helpful/caring. She had the biggest smile on her face the whole time and answered all our questions and never once even had a hint of rudeness or annoyance with my million questions. The other 3 staff we had interactions with were great as well. We fell in love with a tiny little kitten online and got to take her home

The staff was helpful very professional..extremely kind...compassionate to my needs in offering me exactly the right fit animal ... the facility was clean and well kept. The kennels were clean...each animal water bowels was full and fresh looking...I was very impressed with them 👌 yes I did find me a forever pet 😀 ...I'm so excited to bring her home. Easiest adoption process ever. You don't have 15 pages of questions/references to fill out. The 2 page application only asks the relevant questions, nothing more. I was in and out with a new forever member of my family in less than an hour. Doesn't take days like rescues do. If you have current pets, be sure to bring in your current rabies certificates. If you don't have them, they will just call to verify with your vet while you wait. My vet just happened to be closed on the day I went to adopt so I had to run back home to grab the certificates. I live nearby so it wasn't an issue. Staff were friendly and knowledgeable too and eager to find good homes for the animals they have for adoption; so adopting from here didn't require having to jump through hoops.
