City of Orange Animal Shelter

Ok I have to say how sad it is that the animal control officers are rendered powerless by the higher ups in the city because, they are so worried about being sued that many animals must live in abject misery. I can drive though town in the heat of the summer and the cold of the winter and see animals suffering. No one enforces the new law of no animals being tied out for 24-7! Life on a chain or a rope or an extention cord is no kind of life! Animals suffer greatly here and no one cares. When I moved here in 1983 at that time the pound was under the police department and the method of euthanasia was a 22 bullet to the head which the police supplied to the then animal control officer's. Was called three times to pick up 2 strays at my job said they didn't see them then couldn't get them. SAS these 2 dogs will be in this wet cold weather

Called them twice. Both for protected Texas falcon/hawks. The first time they came out, the second time they couldn't be bothered. The woman answering calls didn't even know what a falcon was. They aren't hiring competent employees it seems.

Andy is wonderful. He really cares about the animals and takes the time to educate people about why it's important to help control the animal population and prevent the spread of diseases by getting your animals neutered and spayed and not feeding stray animals. You may think that you're doing them a favor by feeding them or dropping stray animals off somewhere just because you don't want them put to sleep, but in reality you are putting them in greater danger because they don't know where the food sources are or where predators are in that new foreign location. Plus you're creating another problem for someone else. Even if you catch them and have them fixed and then release them, they still need yearly vaccinations to protect them from diseases. They helped me with a meet and greet at the shelter with our doberman to make sure they would be friends!
