Cherokee County Animal Shelter

I adopted a sweet cat from this county animal shelter, excited to give her a loving home. Unfortunately, it soon became clear that their spay procedure was botched, leading to serious complications that require corrective surgery costing up to $5,000. When I reached out to them about this mistake, they flat-out refused to take any responsibility or offer assistance, leaving me to foot the bill alone. What frustrates me most is that other facilities I’ve researched or heard about hold themselves accountable for errors like this—offering follow-up care, financial aid, or at least some form of support to ensure the animal’s well-being. Two weeks ago, my little dog, Sammie got out of the gate and ran into the woods. Our entire neighborhood was out looking for him. Unfortunately, he was hit by a car and killed and was taken to Cherokee Co Animal Shelter. We were devastated. CCAS let us know they had him and brought him to our house. They were so kind to us. Thank you for all you do for our community. We appreciate your kindness.

I adore this shelter. Everyone here is so kind and caring. When you ask them about an animal they can tell you all they know. You can tell when they talk about the animals how well they are loved and cared for. When you walk in it is bright and it doesn’t smell like a shelter. The people are warm and inviting. If you are looking for a new baby this is the place to go. My fiancé has adopted 2 dogs and 1 cat from here over the years.

100/10 recommend going to Cherokee County Animal Shelter to find your next fur baby! Every single staff member was incredibly kind and helpful. The adoption process was super smooth. This shelter creates an amazing environment for their pets. All of the animals receive love and attention from the workers and volunteers, which is unfortunately not very common at shelters.

I got a dog from here back in January it ended up being the best choice I ever made. I called them and asked them if they had a dog that was already trained and they told me no but they had a dog that was Easily trainable. And that was the 100% true They Really know what they’re talking about when it comes to dogs they pretty much guess my dogs breed even though I didn’t believe them. I got a DNA test she’s half Rottweiler and half German Shepherd. The only thing they were wrong about is they said she couldn’t be trusted around cats and squirrels, but she does fine around both of them I’m beyond grateful
