Calhoun County Humane Society

My daughter owns and operates a successful business. Being the good-natured animal loving person she is, she decided to DONATE a sizeable percentage of her profits, quarterly, TO the Calhoun County Animal Shelter. She wanted to do this in person, as is her right to do being the donor. Boy is she glad she did. Congratulations to the staff running the place during the day on 2-9-26. YOU cost your shelter THOUSANDS of dollars in donations. My daughter has a plethora of other options to be philanthropic. YOUR LOSS.

We had a great experience with this shelter. They did have the wrong email for contact on their website so it took a little longer to get in contact but they were incredibly helpful once we reached them. We picked out a few dogs but told them they had to be cat friendly. They tested the dogs with cats before we arrived and told us which ones would be a good fit. It was an incredibly smooth process. Our dog is a perfect fit for us! People that help these animals find homes are true blessing for the community.

Just would like to share my experience and let people know, to stay away from here and do not waste your time. I wanted to adopt one of their dogs so bad, but the communication is terrible, they told me do not come down there, only email, and that process took 2 to 3 weeks only for them to tell me I was denied. I've asked twice(email) why I was denied, and they still haven't answered. I have a doggie door leading to fenced in yard, I own my house, and I already have a dog. Not to mention, the one time I got to talk to the lady that oversees the applications, was very negative. I just don't get it, because if I'm getting rejected, then I bet their adoption record has very little success. All I wanted was a dog!

I adopted my life companion from here eight months ago. Rainbow was a rescued from a Pit Bull puppy mill where she had been her entire life. She had been at the shelter a year when I met her. The workers at the shelter had cared for her, loved her, and done an amazing job of caring for her mental and physical condition. They were so patience helping me to get her to socialize with me. She totally trusted them, and that wasn’t easily earned. Their entire team is such a great group of caring, helpful people that makes such a big difference in the lives of so many animals. Thanks guys.

They know the cops won’t do anything, but they don’t even try to give you suggestions where to find help. Apparently there just isn’t anything at all they can possibly do about it. Why are you open? I would leave zero stars if I could. Edit: I called asking for help finding resources to help feed him. That was my only question.
