Brownsville Animal Regulation and Care Center

We adopted our girl in August last year. BARCC did a great job explaining when we could expect to pick her up and bring her home. They gave us all the medical history they had on file and even samples of the food they fed her to slowly transition her to new food. We will keep donating here because they try their best with every bit that they get. A lot of the staff are unpaid volunteers and I’m so grateful to them. Thanks to the staff our girl celebrated her 2nd birthday 🎂 surrounded by love and affection .

The shelter has come a long way from what it was a few years ago. A lot has to do with who is running the place and I can tell you that the effort of making things better for the animals has been tremendous because it’s done with sincere love and passion. The shelter manager, Jean Rosado has greatly improved so many facets and continues to excel in bettering the environment at the shelter for the animals. He also has such a great team of people and together they continue to do so much good and as a volunteer i see it first hand. Jean truly goes out of his way to help people to the best of his ability that come in with different concerns and situations. Dogs didn't have toys to play with. I threw a chew toys/ rope over the fence the day I walked into town. They donated food to my animals, though. I appreciate that despite me already having a full bag I bought at tractor supply. The animals need more insulation during icy weather and shelter space. It need upgrading.

The BARCC Team is an amazing community resource and partner. We recently had an influx of cats coming to our office to be fed. The team gave us Info on how to not overfeed the cats to allow them to keep hunting. They also help us establish a community cat program where the cats can stabilize the population on our block. The cats are being spayed/neutered and being bright back to our property! The team even helped rescue a momma and her four kittens who will continue to nurse on her for a couple more weeks before they're adopted. Then, one of our team members will take in momma cat because she is friendly. Thank you, Dr. Caldwell, Jean, Phillip, Anthony, and Arias for all of your help!

We adopted a sweet dog on January 29th with BARCC saying he had a negative heartworm test. Today as of his follow-up appointment with the vet he is "very infected" I would not trust this shelter as far as I can throw anyone in the building.
