Best Retrievers

This is a great facility. Over 100 acres to train and or board. They offer a variety of classes, but I believe they cater mostly to training award winning hunting dogs. Their website is easy to navigate. The staff I've met are super knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful. Dogs in their care are well looked after. Actually adopted a Bastrop county shelter pup through them recently and waiting patiently for him to complete his amazing obedience classes with Aaron. My dog was failed - she can't speak, so I'm speaking for her. During her eight-week Master National prep, at least 𝘁𝘄𝗼 𝘄𝗲𝗲𝗸𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗰𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗹𝘆 𝗹𝗮𝗯𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗱 𝘀𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗹𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝘄𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗻𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗴𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗻. The unopened packets prove it. These were critical to her focus and performance and missing them 𝗹𝗶𝗸𝗲𝗹𝘆 𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗱 𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗲𝘁𝗶𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗿 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗛𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗼𝗳 𝗙𝗮𝗺𝗲 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲. When Rody Best, owner of Best Retrievers, was confronted with this critical issue, I was 𝗹𝗶𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 —he denied it instead of acknowledging the problem, even with clear proof. After four years of trust, financial investment, and dedication, this wasn’t just disappointing — it was 𝗮 𝗳𝗮𝗶𝗹𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗴𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘆, 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗯𝗮𝘀𝗶𝗰 𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗲. Sophie deserved better. The truth must be told.

I want to warn anyone considering sending their dog to Best Retrievers . This place is not what it looks like online. Behind the clean images and big promises, the reality for the dogs can be very different. From what I’ve seen, the facility is extremely short-staffed, and because of that, the dogs don’t get the attention or care they deserve. Many spend long hours confined to their kennels, sometimes sitting in their own waste, with little to no outside time. They aren’t aired out after feeding or given regular breaks on weekends — meaning many stay in their kennels almost nonstop during that time. It’s heartbreaking to imagine how uncomfortable and stressed those dogs must feel. Another serious concern is how overcrowded it can be. I’ve seen two to three dogs in one kennel, including dog

We couldn’t be more pleased with Best Retrievers! Our 100 lb lab is a lot to handle and they did a fantastic job working with him. Dakota is incredibly talented and great at what he does. Our family was so impressed with his basic training that we decided to move forward with getting our lab his Junior Title. Thank you Best Retrievers! We are proud to be a part of your family.

We have been so very pleased with our pup and the Best Retriever puppy imprinting program. The level of care in interviewing us (w/ Kristen -owner) before we picked our puppy was critical, looking back, to make sure we were matched well. We wanted a couch dog with superb hunting retriever skills — and that’s what we have! ❤️ We did duck retriever training at home, but the 2-week puppy imprinting course with Best was essential. The master hunter genetics, matching process, and loving puppy training (w/ Victoria) from Best are all very evident in our pup today. He’s perfect!
