We recently adopted our German Shepherd, Kyro, from the Bernalillo County Animal Care and Resource Center, and the entire experience was amazing! The staff was kind, patient, and truly cared about matching each animal with the right family. They answered every question we had and made the process simple and stress-free. You can tell they genuinely love and protect the animals in their care — everything was clean, organized, and filled with compassion. Kyro has been such a blessing in our lives, and we’re beyond grateful to the team here for giving him a second chance and helping us find our new family member. 💙🐾 If you’re considering adopting, this is absolutely the place to go! In my experience, I have adopted a brother and sister shitsu from bernalia county. They were very professional. Helping me in every way. I also donate when I can Maybe 1 day I can have time to go ahead and help out with the dogs voluntarily. They are amazing and have a large responsibility. I just wish this state would do more for them, like to give to give them more supplies and needs for the animals.God bless you

We attended the shot clinic today and we couldn’t have been more satisfied. The process was easy, all the techs were kind and helpful. After our appointment the staff took time to talk with us about our dogs and were so thoughtful and helpful! Would definitely recommend for future clinics or adoption.

The folks here seem very sincere and caring for shelter animals. They post on Nextdoor to help animals get adopted. Which is what got me to adopt sweet Sahara. I saw she has been at the BernCo Animal Shelter for 182 days. Poor kitty! When you visit the shelter, you will need to buzz in and then sign in. It was an easy and quick process. I saw lots of sweet kitties. Sahara was very social and sweet. Her room was clean, had lots of kitty activities. She had two other cat roommates. I was able to sit in the room with Sahara to see her sweet personality. The adoption process was easy. Sahara came with her known medical records, she’s spayed, has her shots up to date, they gave me a bag of food she is currently eating and some cute Christmas toys. Overall it was a great experience. I’m happy

Thanks BernCo Animal Services! Shelter is well-kept, clean, they have a good system for meet 'n greets, staff is friendly, took time with us during meet 'n greet. We met several dogs over a couple of weeks and missed out on one :( Then, during what turned out to be our 2nd to last visit, after meeting a couple of dogs, Wayne mentioned one that we had not considered and so we met her, returned the next day and adopted her! So, a BIG THANK YOU/KUDOS to Wayne for having that intuition! Only issue: Wished shelter would have waited before spaying her since she was in heat (but perhaps understandable with shelters being full).
