Benbrook Animal Shelter

I can’t give any less than one star. I was two hours from receiving my adopted dog when I received a phone call. The caller stated that there was some “confusion” and one of the site leads adopted the dog to another individual. I was so excited for this new addition to my family and purchased food, additional water, food bowls, leash and vest for this perfect pet. I even rearranged my furniture so he would be more comfortable. Only to have my legs kicked out from underneath me! Two hours prior!!! I am significantly disappointed and disgusted with this place. I am wondering though, how much extra was given for the “confusion”. When I talked to the person that I told I would take him, she stated that it was on the schedule for that afternoon. Happen to drive upon this location and as soon as I walked in, the volunteers there greeted me with a polite friendly manner. I asked about the dogs they had and then I looked over and saw one hanging out with them, she trotted toward me and I looked at her long and hard in her eyes. I asked her if she was looking for a home as well, and the volunteers said yes she is. After sharing her story and how long they had her and that a family had brought her back in less than 2 days previously. I set with the baby, big baby at 51 lbs, and talked with her and then asked her if she wanted to go home with me, and the volunteers were so happy, excited and emotional to see her go. This baby picked Me ! After 6 months of pondering on what, when and where, I have fallen in love with her! I have seen not

The best staff anywhere. This is a very clean facility. The price as right and they have your best friend just waiting for you to come in! I have 2 dogs we picked up there & they are wonderful!

The new shelter its excellent. State of the art upgrades. The animals have their own indoor outdoor run. They have cleaning morning and night. The Animals control officer is excellent. I respect her knowledge and experience in animal behavior. She is so good with all the animals and they listen to her.

While this is a small shelter, the staff are hard working, respond timely, and are easy to contact when out on the road or not in the shelter. In addition, there are dedicated volunteers representing 4 Paws that handle the adoptions. Even though 4 Paws is only manning the premises on Friday thru Sunday, someone is available at anytime by phone to schedule an appointment to see one of the animals.
