I volunteered with BYC in the fall of 2025. I’ve always loved dogs and had time to help out so I followed my sister’s advice and reached out to BYC. I was SO impressed by the staff, they are so dedicated and do a wonderful job of vetting dogs that come into the rescue shelter. Their goal is to get every dog into a loving home and they deliver, setting up every dog for success! After two months I was ready to adopt myself and it quickly became clear that the adorable Dee Dee I had been taking care of for weeks was a perfect fit. I might have rescued Dee Dee, now Lucy, but I didn’t realize how much I needed her myself. BYC set me up with everything I needed to adopt, I’ve never been happier and owe it all to the wonderful staff at BYC. If you’re thinking of adopting or love dogs, just stop

I had a fantastic experience working with Because You Care, Inc. and highly recommend visiting them if you're looking to rescue a pet! As soon as I saw Toe-B (now Toby) posted on their site, I applied with as much info as I could in hopes that we'd be a good match. Maura was extremely responsive and I was able to ask questions, etc. before heading up to meet him. Once I got there, I knew he was the dog for me. Maura and the team were so kind and professional and walked me through the adoption steps. I really admire how much they care about their pets. I actually gave Maura a hug when I left! Whenever people ask me about Toby, I tell them to check out Because You Care. Thank you so much for the wonderful experience!

We adopted our dog last week and had a wonderful experience with Because You Care. After our last dog passed away, we thought we'd take some time off, but our daughter kept sending us pictures of dogs! I had made another inquiry with a different rescue group that wasn't very responsive. Because You Care was the opposite - and we were doing our application work over New Years week. We filled out the application, which is lengthy, but they, like other rescues want to see dogs placed in good homes that will work out for the benefit of the dogs and people. They contacted our vet to make sure we took care of our animals, and before you knew it we were in the car on our way to meet Poppy. She looked like a beautiful dog in photos, and in person she couldn't be more sweet - love at first sight f

Maura and crew are excellent. Got a rescue beagle from this location and the transition was seamless from start to finish. They require advanced information such as your current vet, number of other pets, fenced area, etc. Just to make sure the pet you are adopting goes to a good home. I would recommend this care facility to anyone.

I adopted Zeus (now named Moose) and the process was smooth. The facility is clean, the people were great to work with, they also offer your dog a 4 week training class after adoption. Highly recommend doing the training class with your dog (Lynn the trainer is awesome).
