This shelter is a joke. Who puts a small nursing mother and her babies in a kennel with big dogs? That’s reckless and unsafe. Common sense isn’t common here.

Went to go adopt from them but saw the conditions they had their dogs in. None in kennels, poop and pee everywhere and had a sign on their front door saying they would return the next day despite their Google hours saying they’re open. They never answer their phones either. The facade they play on Facebook of how good and clean their facility is are all lies. I hope the county would shut this place down because it’s not sanitary or fully operational.

This place sucks. They never pick up the phone, or return calls. I been calling for the last 4 days about picking up puppy that died. They ate supposed to be open from 8:30am to 5pm. Productivity is not keeping them from picking up phone. From reading the reviews. They need to do better for the community.

Absolutely unacceptable experience. I notified the Barstow Humane Society that the dog they had was my dog, confirmed it with them, and told them clearly that I was on my way to pick him up. Instead of securing him or holding him for me, I was later told that my dog “dug out and left.” That was the only explanation they offered. This is supposed to be a place that protects animals, yet they couldn’t even keep a claimed dog safe for the short time it took me to get there. No urgency, no responsibility, no help, no accountability. Just “your dog escaped” and that was it. The level of negligence and lack of care here is unbelievable. If you’re trusting them with your animal, be aware of how they handled mine. I’m now left searching for my dog again because they didn’t do their job.

Horrible conditions for all the animals, and incredible level of neglect for them. My fiancé got a puppy from there, adorable dog, but they did not care for her at all. They couldn’t tell us her age they guessed (she is about 6-8 months) 9 months then 4 months, gave us no paper work on any conditions or vaccinations, which I doubt she had, and she has a bad cough that has been diagnosed as pneumonia or some “temp virus,” with out any heads up. If you shop here, you aren’t getting a healthy pet, you will be saving an animal from an abusive temporary household.
