Barking Hound Village Old 4th Ward

Be warned of this place. I left my dog there for boarding for four days and he came back with either a bite or scrape to both the left side of his face and his left front leg. The wound on his face was obvious and it STUNK. Making me think it had occurred earlier during his stay and no one bothered to treat it or check him. He even had a bath on his last day there and you're telling me not even the groomer noticed it? I'll update the review if I hear from their team. Extremely concerned that they possibly noticed my dog was wounded and didn't bother to notify me, or equally worse, are incompetent enough to not notice. I’m sad to be giving BHVL a one star review bc we’ve been coming for over a decade across two dogs, but this year was terrible. We have 100 lb lab and not once but TWICE has BHVL left his prong collar on him the entire time he was there. The first time was 10 days and resulted in severe wounds that needed treatment by a vet. They proactively alerted us to this when they realized the collar had been left on when they bathed him. We accepted their apology and “overhaul of intake procedures” as well as their monetary reimbursements for the stay and vet bills. This Holiday he stayed for 4 days and it happened again. My pups were a little timid at first, but now they absolutely love it here! I really appreciate being able to watch their activities on camera and receiving a daily report card. It’s such a reassuring way to see that the staff are truly engaging and interacting with the dogs. One of my dogs is usually very apprehensive around new people, so it meant so much to actually witness her confidently walking up to a staff member without hesitation. That alone speaks volumes about the care and trust they build. BHV is amazing — highly recommend!

We have been pleased with the service and care at Barking Hound. It is also an easy walk and is very accessible. We use it a couple of times a week to allow our big furry dog to get exercise in an air conditioned environment. Stall are great.

Buttercup is always happy when she goes to play with her friends at Barking Hound VillageO4W. The personnel is friendly, caring and always ready to greet her with a good attitude. I feel good knowing she's safe and well taken care of during her daily or overnight stays.
