Ayres Memorial Animal Shelter

My daughter took her dog to be fixed and left with a gagging anxiety ridden dog who has been puking. Our dog hates collars and has always been walked on a harness, she explained this to the woman working there. After some struggle to get our dog down the hallway the employee decided the best the best thing to do would be to put a choke collar on our dog and try to drag her down the hallway until the dog was yiping and scared until she finally almost got the employee. My daughter refused to leave her dog with anyone who would be that aggressively yanking a scared dog. This dog has no nature of harming anyone and is friendly towards strangers anytime we have her out. Will never return with any animals.

I think they try very hard to take care of and love the animals in their care. I also think they could use some help. Any volunteers ?

The best shelter to adopt an animal in the area! You guys take exceptional care of the animals that are brought in and make sure they are the best, most stable version of themselves before they leave. I was a little shocked to see some of the recent negative comments about the lack of communication between potential adopters and the shelter but I will say that I have seen a lot of advancement and change come to their online presence and website itself! Keep up the good work and hopefully we can contact Susan and get her to revise her Google review and give her an amazing local recommendation to rescue and adopt! We just adopted our second dog from Ayres. They are dedicated to these animals and work tirelessly to care and protect the animals in their care. They never refuse a stray or surrender and rescue the poor momma dogs being over bread by the Amish when they are done using them. I thank God that there are people like Ayres who care so deeply for all the beautiful animals.

It is very clear that these guys are passionate about what they do. The process was very smooth from start to finish, they were incredibly responsive, and they take care that the animals are going to good homes. They made sure that we were fully set up for success with our new little boy. I highly recommend this shelter.
