Athens County Dog Shelter

Thankful for the fabulous staff and volunteers who care for these animals! They did a great job helping us understand traits and behaviors to expect & prepare for bringing Beetle home.

We got a female Siberian husky from this dog shelter probably about 4 to 5 years ago or so give our take a year If I'm be aounst the cost of the dog and the fees like tags,shots, and other stuff wasn't too bad considering everything it included the price was very reasonable and quite fair in my opinion which it cost around $140.00 dallors I think that's all we spent which was a very fair price

When I called the shelter in April 2024, asking about adopting a senior dog, I was just gathering information. However, I was told about Belle, who was being fostered. I met Belle and her foster mom the next day. Now it is June 2025, and I am grateful to the shelter and Belle’s foster mom for introducing me to my wonderful, smart, constant companion, Belle.

Let me just tell you that you will not find another County Animal Shelter better than this one. From their loving demeanor to their closed shelter policy which makes visiting with potential dogs so much easier. You don't hear the animals stressed out and barking because there's so many people coming in and out and it makes it a very nurturing environment. The staff here have went above and beyond answering my questions, assisting me and meeting the animals, and reminding me that it's okay if you don't have a connection with a certain animal you might find the connection with the next animal. I for one am extremely grateful for the Athens County Dog Shelter for their amazing staff and unwavering support. I will always direct people I know to this dog shelter when they're thinking of adoptin

I found my fur buddy at the Athens County Dog Shelter. I had to rename him Jack due to his natural Captain Jack Sparrow eyeliner. What a good boy he is.
