The process of adopting our sweet boy was simple, fast and I would recommend this place to anyone looking to add a fur baby to your home. We adopted a puppy, and the right questions were asked to ensure we were ready and committed to taking care of a puppy. He is the PERFECT addition to our family and I’m so glad we found him.

Appalachian Highlands truly cares about their babies. They helped me find my Sammy (formerly Kregg). Very clean shelter and super friendly staff. Brittany was super helpful and made the whole process extremely simple. They are also super thorough about who they adopt their babies out to. I have a dog in the house as well and they asked about his records, vaccinations, and temperament. They make sure their animals have a good home to go to! Sammy loves his new home!

The process of adopting Kringle (now Frankie) was thorough and diligent. I answered a lot of questions, provided proof of up to date vet care for my current pets and got to spend some time visiting him onsite before committing. I’m grateful the staff cares about where the animals go. We went to our first vet appointment 3 days after bringing Frankie home - he checked out perfectly happy and healthy as he had been well cared for by the staff at the Humane Society! We have a house full of pups now but we will continue to help support this rescue shelter as much as possible moving forward. Great experience!

We adopted our sweet cat, Sprinkles, here about a year and a half ago. We had a good experience. Everyone was so excited for her to find a family and it was very sweet!
