We've adopted dogs from multiple rescues, but our experience with ARLEP was the best! The staff was so incredibly nice and you could tell they really cared about their dogs. They have a detailed, clear contract with expectations about how you will care for your new pet. What I was most impressed by was the grounds. It has a nice farm vibe where the dogs had lots of room, there was lots of grassy areas, and the dogs had lots of space in their enclosures. We crossed two state lines to come get our pupper and we would gladly do it again! We love our new family member!!

It seems like many of the negative reviews are from families that were unable to adopt, and want to badmouth ARL. A person should already have their pets spayed/neutered, have vet records, and have microchips. For people to say that they did these things in order to adopt a new pet shows that it is not in a new pet’s best interest to live in a home where other pet’s needs are being ignored. We adopted 2 beautiful dogs here about 3 and a half years ago, and love them. We filled out the application, and received a call the next day with an approval. So thankful that we were able to save our girls.

This more for the volunteering. My daughter and I have been volunteering here because we genuinely care about the animals and want to help. Unfortunately, our recent experiences have been discouraging. On more than one occasion, we have been approached in an abrupt and unwelcoming manner shortly after arriving. Most recently, within five minutes of being there, we were questioned about why we were present, told we could not walk around or interact with the dogs, redirected to help elsewhere, and then told that help was not needed. The communication felt aggressive rather than instructional. We fully understand that shelters can be busy and that structure and safety are important. However, volunteers are donating their time, and a clear, respectful check-in process would make a significan

I see that there are both positive and negative reviews to this place. For the most part everything was good as well as the staff. We never encountered any problems through the whole process. Application was pretty straightforward. Now the only thing I will say is that we get the dogs or cats are a “first come first serve” basis. I wish they would at least tell us someone was also interested in the same dog and so on. Again, everything else was great except that little detail.

I came to the Animal Rescue League to hopefully adopt a kitten. I grew up in a household that fostered and had lots of animals from cats, birds, to ferrets and dogs. I was very aware of how strict they were about who they allow animals to go home, which I appreciated. We found a very lovely kitten that had an amazing personality and I figured would be a great addition to our household. The facility wanted pet vaccination records and proof that my landlord would be okay with a cat, which I had both emailed to them within an hour. I figured we would be good to go in a day or two. Nope... Communication is awful. I would call for an update and was told they would call me back. Then told we needed to give our dog's chip number, which we did immediately and was told we would get a call back th
