Alpine Animal Shelter

When our dog died unexpectedly while we were hiking in Big Bend we were directed to the AlpineAnimal Shelter for cremation services. The staff was so kind and gentle to us and our dog. Today the called to let me know he is being shipped home to us via UPS. Given the situation I would like everyone to know how kind the staff are.

I have never seen the shelter or personally met any volunteers as I live in Illinois. However, I had been looking for THE dog for about 2 years (online) to connect with when I saw "Kanga" as she was called while at their shelter. I immediately knew she was THE one & filled out the application. My contact with all from the shelter was via email, text & calls, however, I cannot say enough good things about everyone that was involved in this very complicated situation, given that it's usually a 3 legged transport to get a dog from Texas to Illinois. We all tried really hard but couldn't figure it out.... in the meantime, I had to put my current dog down suddenly. Soon after, I received an email saying the shelter had a way to get "Kanga" up to Illinois! My prayers the night B4 had been answ

The folks here are very compassionate and helpful both to the animals in their care and those of us who need the cremation services. They treated our beloved Traveler with grace and dignity when we were really hurting.

I was on the road when my dog passed. They gave us some advise and suggestions. They handle cremations, and arranged to ship the ashes home. No big deal, but I was heart broke and they were kind. The shelter and the animals looked clean and well cared for. So thank you to them, and please remember them when you make donations.

What I first noticed was the customer service was excellent. Then walking to the kennels to meet Knox the facility was very clean. They let me spend time with Knox two different times that day. Then the next day I went back and adopted Knox. The staff here was very helpful with my questions.
